Business Development Manager in Chicago

Since 1977, ZIMM has been a leading manufacturer of high-quality transmission parts. We are a family-owned and privately held company with locations in Austria, Italy and US and a distributing partner network and customers across the globe. The comprehensive ZIMM modular screw jack system can accurately move or adjust loads up to 100 tons. The electromechanical drives are designed for linear movement and can be an alternative to hydraulic or pneumatic systems. The modular ZIMM product range and its numerous accessories can be assembled quickly and easily for any application. The result is a customer-specific subassembly.

Our company growth plan includes three major objectives:

  1. Generating demand for ZIMM Screw Jacks and bevel gearboxes.
  2. Winning new channel partners to distribute ZIMM products in the USA successfully.
  3. Market research: Analyzing a target audience for marketing. Understanding consumer (manufacturers) buying trends, being able to anticipate product distribution needs.

To achieve these objectives, and to introduce our brand and products further to the American market we are looking for a Business Development Manager (BDM) who is focused on developing, managing and converting leads into sales. The BDM will report directly to the Senior Account Manager. Your tasks will be varied and complex, your area of responsibilities very diverse:

  • Grow awareness for ZIMM products and build strong relationships with key influencers
  • Customer-centric approach to generate interest among targeted market
  • Build a robust pipeline of machinery and engineering opportunities
  • You will continue to expand our business in the main region Illinois and greater East Coast region
  • Maintain and develop existing customer contacts and collaborate with the Senior Account Manager
  • You are actively looking for new customers and building your customer base
  • Establishment of new customer relationships and liaise via telephone
  • Develop long-term and successful business relationships with customers and distributors through phone and personal discussions
  • Analyzing customer requirements and present precise solutions
  • Processing of customer orders and acceptance of telephone inquiries, as well as offer placement

Your profile - Experience & Qualification:

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in a role with responsibility for business development or sales.
  • Proven background in successfully executing business development plans to generate sales leads.
  • Previous industry experience is required, working in the machinery field.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with sales or marketing CRM systems
  • Able to travel extensively, including overnight travel
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle suitable for client site visits.

 

You have an affinity to detail, excellent communication skills, high organizational talent and enjoy engaging with customers on the phone. You are comfortable working independently and are goal-driven.
